" I'm proud of you "

" Watch me! " Children long for someone they love to watch them and offer an approving smile or affirming words. And as they grow up, they long for their parents and grandparents to watch them get good grades, play sports, play in bands, act in plays and go to college....Probably the most powerful thing that you can say to your kids, next to " I love you " is " I'm proud of you ".
" I'm proud of you" doesn't only have the power to recognize achievement. That little phrase is concentrated power...an energy boost to encourage people to do more than they thought possible. We all need encouraging gestures of "I'm proud of you"..whether in words, notes or actions...and no matter if we are just starting out in life or businesws and trying to build our confidence or if we've risen to the top. We needed it as a children from our parents, and still need as students from our teachers and coaches, and as adults from our coworkers and supervisors.
If you are a parent, you have the greatest opportunity to say "I'm proud of you" to your children and an opportunity to have the greatest impact on a person's future success. If you are a teacher, employer or coach, You are encouraged to make "I'm proud of you" to be a part of your daily vocabulary.
Within each person you meet is a bit of that child or grandchild looking for approval and saying, "Watch me". Are you watching??? Do you notice the achievement.....small or large.....of your family members, friends, neighbours and coworkers or employees??? You can help them grow by tell them...." I'm proud of you! "
